I Want to Keep It a Secret, But I Can't: The Moment My Idea of Pancakes Was Blown Away in Asakusa.

Lately, you may have seen pancakes cascading like an “avalanche” on social media.
With such an eye-catching visual, it’s hard not to stop scrolling and watch the video to the end.

Did you know that the birthplace of this so-called “avalanche pancake” is actually located in Asakusa, at FRUITS PARLOR ASAKUSA YOROZU CAFE?

Known for its pancakes made with an abundance of seasonal fruit, the cafe attracts visitors from both Japan and abroad. Despite being located in the popular tourist area of Asakusa, it continues to be beloved by true dessert enthusiasts.

When you hear that a cafe is popular, you might start to wonder:
When is the busiest time? Can I make a reservation?
Is an English menu available?
Are there any rules I should know before entering?

According to the staff, most of the customers are international tourists. When I visited, I also noticed that many of the guests were from overseas, which made the cafe feel welcoming and easy to visit, even for first-time visitors and solo diners.

In this article, I’ll guide you as your “friend in Asakusa,” sharing tips on how to fully enjoy your experience at FRUITS PARLOR ASAKUSA YOROZU CAFE and easing any concerns you might have!

Goma's Tips for the Perfect FRUITS PARLOR ASAKUSA YOROZU CAFE Experience

1. Important things to know before entering

How to enter the cafe

The cafe is easy to spot with its white walls and yellow door.
Before entering, please ring the intercom. A staff member will come to guide you, so wait outside until you are invited in.

②Preparation Time for Pancakes and Seating Time

The cafe has a charming interior decorated with flowers and small items, but it is small and cozy. The cafe is usually run by one person, so it takes about 15 minutes for the pancakes to be prepared after ordering.
Please note that seating is time-limited. Once all food have been served, guests are asked to enjoy their table for approximately 30 minutes to one hour.

While you wait, self-service water is available, along with small sweets such as ramune candies and gummies.
These are complimentary, and each guest may take one item. It’s a thoughtful service while you wait.

③ Ordering rules

Each guest is required to order at least one food item.
Sharing food is allowed, but every person must order their own food item.
Please note that drink-only orders are not accepted. Drinks can be ordered only together with a food item.

2. Is an English menu available?

Inside the cafe, the menu is accessed by scanning a QR code placed on each table.
Once you’ve decided what to order, simply call the staff to place your order.

The menu is available in both Japanese and English, so you don’t need to worry if you’re not confident in Japanese.
There is also a QR code displayed on the outside wall of the cafe, allowing you to check the menu before entering. This makes the ordering process clear and stress-free, even for first-time visitors and foreign travelers.

3. Peak Hours & Reservations

The cafe is open from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with last orders at 2:00 p.m.
Early mornings tend to get busy, especially with international tourists.

According to the staff, around lunchtime on weekdays is relatively calm.
If you’d like to take photos at a relaxed pace and enjoy your pancakes in a quieter setting, this time of day is recommended.

Please note that reservations are not accepted, so if you’d like to avoid peak hours, give yourself a little extra time. Even between sightseeing stops, this makes your visit more relaxed.

My Experience

Of course, I ordered the cafe’s signature Strawberry Avalanche Pancake (¥4,400).
They also have an even bigger version, the Big Strawberry Avalanche Pancake (¥5,500), which is perfect for sharing or capturing that extra photo-worthy moment.
For my drink, I chose a hot coffee (¥440).

The drink arrived quickly after ordering, but the pancakes took a little time to be prepared.
While waiting, I enjoyed the charming atmosphere of the cafe, filled with flowers and cute decorations — a cozy moment to soak in the cafe’s unique world.

When the pancakes finally arrived, the staff kindly assisted me and removed the cylindrical film that wraps the pancake. Thanks to that, I could focus entirely on capturing the moment the strawberries “avalanched” on video.

The Strawberry Avalanche Pancake is truly a feast for the eyes — you can’t help but gasp at the sight. It’s topped with about 10 large, juicy strawberries, using the Amaou variety. The soufflé pancake itself is incredibly fluffy, with a rich custard cream filling inside.

Not only is it visually stunning, but the balance of the strawberries’ sweet-tart flavor with the gentle sweetness of the pancakes is perfect, making it a dessert you can enjoy from start to finish — truly a “sweets to experience” 🍓.

If you love taking photos and videos, or if you want a special pancake experience in Asakusa, this is definitely a cafe you should visit at least once.
