Sophie explores Asakusa in the rain after finding a beautiful parfait on Instagram. With GOMA’s help, she takes the Megurin bus to a hidden weekend-only café, AMENIJI, where she enjoys a stunning seasonal peach parfait and is amazed by its beauty, taste, and healthy ingredients.

Among the countless cafes in Asakusa, this is one that truly stood out to me.

I first discovered this cafe on Instagram. Even through a screen, the parfait looked breathtakingly beautiful, and I couldn't help but wonder, "Could it really be this stunning in person?" I knew I had to see it for myself.

The cafe is tucked away in a quiet residential neighborhood, about a 20-minute walk from Asakusa Station. Leaving behind the bustling tourist streets, you'll find a peaceful space that feels like a hidden retreat.

When the parfait arrived at my table, it exceeded every expectation. It wasn't just visually stunning—it was crafted with incredible attention to detail, using carefully selected ingredients that allowed each flavor to shine. I've enjoyed many parfaits over the years, but I've never experienced one that combined artistry, delicacy, and such thoughtful ingredients so beautifully.

After doing a little research, I learned that the cafe is open only on weekends and operates by reservation. If you're planning a visit, you might be wondering: Do I need a reservation? How do I get there? Is English spoken?

This is also a cafe that my friend from overseas absolutely loved. In this article, I'll share everything you need to know, including how to make a reservation, how to get there, and what makes this cafe such a memorable experience.

1. Reservation Required?

Yes. AMENIJI is open only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and all visits require a reservation. Walk-ins are not accepted, so be sure to book in advance.

Reservations can be made by sending a direct message on Instagram. If you don't have an Instagram account, you can also make a reservation by phone.

Please note that reservations must be made at least two days in advance. Since the cafe is open only on weekends and seats are limited, it's a good idea to reserve as early as possible.

In addition to the popular parfait and drink set, AMENIJI also offers lunch and a Parfait Lunch Course. If you'd like to enjoy a full meal along with their beautifully crafted desserts, these options are definitely worth checking out.

2. How to Get There

AMENIJI is about a 20-minute walk from Asakusa Station on the Tobu Skytree Line. The walk takes you away from the bustling tourist area around Kaminarimon and into a quiet residential neighborhood. On a pleasant day, it's a lovely stroll that lets you experience a different, more peaceful side of Asakusa.

If you prefer not to walk—or if it's raining or particularly hot—I recommend taking the Megurin, Taito City Circular Route Bus. Board the bus at the "Asakusa Station" bus stop next to Matsuya Asakusa, then get off at "Imado 1-chome." From there, it's just a short walk to the cafe.

The Megurin fare is only ¥100, making it an easy and affordable option. It's especially convenient if you'd like to save your energy before enjoying AMENIJI's beautiful parfaits.

3. English Support

The menu is available only in Japanese, so if you have any questions, I recommend asking them in advance through Instagram DM when making your reservation.

Since I'm Japanese, I spoke with the owner in Japanese during my visit. However, one of my friend from overseas told me that although they initially spoke in Japanese, the owner switched to English partway through the conversation.

They ended up chatting about tea and Japanese food culture, and before they knew it, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming—almost like spending time with family.

My friend especially praised the owner's hospitality, saying that they were incredibly kind and made them feel genuinely welcome throughout the visit.

Although there isn't an English menu, the owner goes out of their way to communicate with international visitors, making AMENIJI a cafe where everyone can feel at ease.

My Exprience

I first visited AMENIJI in June 2025. On my first visit, I ordered the Hydrangea & Citrus Parfait and the Butterfly Pea Fruit Soda.

Inspired by hydrangeas, the seasonal parfait was so beautiful that it immediately caught my eye the moment it arrived. With its delicate colors and elegant presentation, it looked like a work of art and made me excited before I even took my first bite.

But it wasn't just beautiful—it tasted just as incredible. The balance of sweetness and citrus was perfectly crafted, and every bite offered a new combination of flavors. It was served with a generous bowl of fruit-filled anmitsu with chewy warabi mochi, finished with plenty of rich brown sugar syrup.

The Butterfly Pea Fruit Soda was just as impressive. Its vibrant blue color was stunning, and its refreshing taste paired perfectly with the parfait.

Every item was prepared with great care, making it a truly memorable experience that delighted both my eyes and my taste buds.

I returned in June 2026 when a friend from Osaka came to visit Tokyo. I loved AMENIJI so much that I wanted to share this special cafe with them.

This season's creation was a Peach Utopia Parfait, inspired by the legendary land of paradise. The perfectly ripe peaches were incredibly sweet, juicy, and full of flavor.

Inside the glass were layers of peach, mango, cherries, red dates, hijiki seaweed, and douhua (Chinese tofu pudding), along with other thoughtfully selected ingredients. The combination felt almost like a nourishing herbal dessert. Not only was it visually stunning, but it was also made with fresh, wholesome ingredients that allowed each flavor to truly shine.

The chai is another must-try. Made with the spices displayed in the cafe's showcase, it is wonderfully aromatic with a gentle, comforting flavor. It's served in a teapot, so you can take your time and enjoy several cups. It paired beautifully with the parfait.

AMENIJI is known not only for its exquisite parfaits but also for its lunch menu and Parfait Lunch Course. This time I came for the parfait, but I'm already looking forward to returning to try lunch on my next visit.
