“It’s a historic place… will it feel welcoming?”
Don’t worry! Restaurant Kamiya is a beloved spot not only for locals but also for foreign tourists, making it one of Asakusa’s must-visit restaurants.
In this article, I’ll guide you as your “friend in Asakusa,” sharing tips on how to fully enjoy your meal at Restaurant Kamiya and easing any concerns you might have!
Goma's Tips for the Perfect Restaurant KAMIYA Experience
Even if it's your first visit, keep these three points in mind to make sure your experience goes smoothly.
1. No worries if you don’t drink, and no need to worry about what to wear!
The second-floor Restaurant Kamiya offers a full
alcohol menu, but there are plenty of soft drinks as well. Coffee, tea, juices
— even those who don’t drink alcohol or children can enjoy their meal
comfortably!

when I visited, the menus were only in Japanese, but
the official website has an English menu available. If needed, you can also ask
the staff for an English menu. |
2. How to choose your meal and place your order
When I asked the staff, “Which dishes
have been popular for a long time?”
She immediately recommended the Crab Croquette and Menchi-katsu (Minced
meat cutlet).
If you’re unsure what to order, you can’t go wrong with these two — start your
meal with them and enjoy!

3. How to enjoy the history and atmosphere
The warm lighting and wooden tables make your meal even more enjoyable.
At the Kamiya Bar shop
facing Kaminarimon Street, you can purchase original products such as Denki
Bran and Kamiya Wine.
Denki Bran has an alcohol content of 30% and is a cocktail made with brandy,
wine, gin, and curaçao.
Since I don’t drink, I bought one as a souvenir for my father this time.
(The shop is open from 10:00 to 17:30, closed on Tuesdays.)
My Experience
Here’s
what we ordered:
👉 Crab Croquette (¥1,000), Menchi-katsu (Menchi-katsu
(Minced meat cutlet) (¥900), and Kids’ Plate (¥900). (Rice is served separately
for ¥300.)
The Menchi-katsu was packed with juicy
meat, crispy on the outside, and topped with demi-glace sauce — perfect with
rice🍴
The Crab Croquette, full of rich crab
flavor, pairs perfectly with the creamy white sauce and tangy tomato sauce!
The Kids’ Plate came with ketchup rice, fried shrimp, karaage, spaghetti, sausage, and jelly — full of variety and fun! My daughter seemed to really enjoy it and finished everything in no time! ☺
What makes Restaurant Kamiya so
appealing is that you can enjoy both the charming, historic atmosphere and
delicious Western-style dishes in a relaxed setting.
Just a short walk from Kaminarimon in
Asakusa, treat yourself to a special lunch at this historic restaurant!
