A New Must-Visit Spot in Asakusa: Authentic Matcha × Matcha Ramen

CHOTTO MATCHA ASAKUSA, a café where you can enjoy authentic matcha, officially opened on November 1st. This popular brand already has two locations in Manila, Philippines, and its third store has now launched in Asakusa! A fourth location is also coming to Manila, making it a brand to keep an eye on.

When you hear “matcha café,” you might wonder:

“There seem to be so many types—how do I choose?”

“Can I adjust the size or sweetness?”

“Are there food and desserts? Can I take them to go?”

Don’t worry! The staff at this café are happy to guide you in English, so even first-time visitors can enjoy their experience with confidence.

In this article, I’ll guide you as your “friend in Asakusa,” sharing tips on how to fully enjoy your matcha at CHOTTO MATCHA ASAKUSA and easing any concerns you might have!

Goma's Tips for the Perfect CHOTTO MATCHA ASAKUSA Experience

Even if it's your first visit, keep these three points in mind to make sure your experience goes smoothly.

1. No stress, even if it’s your first time! Ordering Style & Atmosphere

You place your order at the counter, and if you’re unsure, you can simply point to what you want!
The staff are happy to guide you in English, so even first-time visitors and international travelers can order without worry.

The café has a clean and calm atmosphere, making it easy to drop in even if you’re traveling alone.
It’s also perfect for couples, friends, or families, so everyone can enjoy a relaxing visit.
Whether you’re taking a break from sightseeing or strolling around Asakusa, it’s a great spot to stop by.

There’s an English menu available, so even if you’re not confident in Japanese, you’ll be fine. The menu includes plenty of photos and detailed descriptions, making it easy to order without any confusion.

2. Can’t decide? Here are the best picks!

If it’s your first time, why not try the “Authentic Matcha Latte” or the “Strawberry Matcha Latte”, both popular choices among international visitors? These are staff recommendations, so you can’t go wrong! You can also choose from two sizes: a larger “Noppo” or a smaller “Chibi.”

One item you definitely have to try at this café is their signature “Matcha Ramen.”
It might sound like an unusual combination, but matcha and ramen pair surprisingly well. The creamy soy milk broth has a gentle matcha aroma, creating a unique and comforting flavor.
It’s rare to find this style of ramen in Asakusa, making it a truly one-of-a-kind experience you can only enjoy here.

3. Good to Know: A little more about CHOTTO MATCHA’s Matcha

The matcha used here is high-quality matcha sourced from Shizuoka, one of Japan’s most famous tea regions. Each cup is whisked fresh right in front of you after you order — so you don’t just drink matcha, you also get to enjoy the experience of watching it being prepared with care. Photos and videos are welcome, making this moment perfect for capturing a unique memory from your time in Asakusa. With the rich aroma of matcha and this special hands-on experience, CHOTTO MATCHA offers more than just a drink — it’s a little cultural moment you won’t want to miss.

My Experience

Strawberry Matcha Latte

Matcha Ramen

Matcha Chiffon Cake

This time I tried Authentic Matcha Latte (¥780), Strawberry Matcha Latte (¥880), Matcha Ramen (¥1,800), Matcha Chiffon Cake (¥580).

The Authentic matcha latte, made with rich Shizuoka matcha, contains no added sweetness, so it’s smooth, refreshing, and great for those who enjoy the pure taste of matcha. The strawberry matcha latte tastes almost like a dessert 🍓

If you prefer sweetness, you can customize it with vanilla syrup or sugar

And the dish I was most curious about—the Matcha Ramen! The soy milk broth is creamy and mild, and the duck chashu was tender and delicious. “Matcha × Ramen” is such a unique combination — definitely worth trying.
The homemade matcha chiffon cake was fluffy and mildly sweet, pairing perfectly with the drinks

Most menu items here are available for takeout — except for the Matcha Ramen and Shaved Ice. All of their homemade sweets are baked in-house, so if you stop by, I highly recommend pairing one with a matcha drink.

I asked the staff about the name, and they told me the “CHOTTO (just a little)” in CHOTTO MATCHA means something like:
“Why not stop by for a bit?” or “How about trying just a little real matcha?”

Authentic matcha made easy and approachable — right here in Asakusa.
So if you’re nearby, why not CHOTTO drop in?
